Dick Enberg Should Apologise – US Open 2009 Men’s Finals Award Ceremony

On one hand we were happy that the well deserved champ Del Potro had won the US Open 2009 Mens Title and on the other I dick_enbergwas really pissed off by Dick Enberg. This happened at the US Open 2009 Mens Finals Award Ceremony. Dick Enberg was the master of ceremony and he kept blabbering unnecessary stuff for quite some time. During the ceremony he asked Roger Federer to talk a few words about this finals and his matches throughout the US Open 2009. Then was Del Potro’s turn and he spoke slowly and very little in english. Del Potro requested Dick Enberg that he wants to talk in spanish and the reply was ” We are running out of time”. Del Potro didn’t give up on it and asked again and Dick Enberg said Del Potro wants to say “A few quick words in Spanish”. WTF

This was very disrespectful on part of Dick Enberg. Really disgusting.. pathetic.. In an award ceremony winners and the runners up are the ones who should speak and not the master of ceremony himself. WTF.. How can they not have time for the winners to speak? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. There wasn’t any need for the USTA chairman to blabber so much and top of that she was just reading from the paper. Can’t you express feelings about how they felt in one sentence and give time for the winner and the runner up to speak ?

Please Note: Dick Enberg is an American sportscaster currently employed by CBS and ESPN.

ESPN and CBS have probably made a wrong choice by hiring somebody like him. He may be good, but first he should learn to be courteous and human !

Dick Enberg should apologize for what happened last night at the US Open 2009 Award ceremony.

Who the hell Dick is, to deny the Champion to say his final emotional words on the occasion of 1st Grand Slam win. Whether it is in English or Spanish or any other language nobody should insult a champion or any such good sportsperson, saying we are running out of time. These people keep on saying this is New York, this is US Open and in the award ceremony insult a 20 year young kid like that… Its a shame… I strongly support you cyber… He should apologize…
