Amazon.com techies forgot their english lessons ;)
When you buy any item from amazon.com they send you a mail after your item is shipped. The email which comes to your email id comes with a message saying “Your Amazon.com order of “[Item Name]” has shipped!”. I had observed this grammar error long back but thought the mistake is minor and then forgot about it. Thinking they might correct the grammar, I didn’t bother to send out feedback mail like I always do when I come across some errors or faults on websites/products etc.
But when I ordered this book from amazon.com recently the same grammar mistake filled mail arrived again. I thought to hype it a little and put it up
. So here it goes…
Wrong usage currently used: “Your Amazon.com order of “The Kite Runner” has shipped!“
Corrected: “Your Amazon.com order of “The Kite Runner” has been shipped!“
They forgot the present participle – “been“. This correction seems a necessity as its a routine mail thats being sent to everybody who buys stuff from amazon.com. Even though this seems very silly, I thought it would be necessary for them to correct as this is a common mail
I hope they read this post and correct it
. Check the screenshots below. First one is of May 5 and second if of July 13. Both have the same grammar mistake.
