Harmonious Kannada Music – Overdose?
There was a time when kannada music was really soothing with a real blend of style and variety. No doubt, the music experience is still soothing but with less intermixture. The annavaru era was the time where we had an amalgamation of traditional classical, sooper romantic, senti and dance numbers. Those songs had a diverse melody in them and we can say present day music sort of has it in them and as well as not. This might be lightly controversial and disturbing statement, but its very true.
If you can recollect the number of good songs which have been coming up since 2006, we of course owe a lot to the amazing music maker Mr.Mano Murthy and his uncommon style of producing melody. But, wait a little and refresh your memory ! Even other music makers started cloning his style. Yeno antaar alla “atiyada amruta nu visha agatte” antha. Its not that this style of slow style music isn’t good or wasn’t done before and it isn’t experimental, but… there were several genre of music too – not just a single frequency trend (i hope you got it !).
Let me take you back to 2006 when this form of euphony More >
Coke Studio – A Nonpareil Crescendo of Euphonic Experience
Junoon Band was the first sufi style fusion based music which was one of my very favs. And when I found out about Coke Studio, I was amazed by the music on the site. Oh ! man what a platform, wah..kya music.. those amazing voices are just mind blowing. Coke Studio is such a unique concept of putting together so many different artists & difference types of music. They cover so many genre music -Classical, Ghazal, Qawwali, Pop, Filmi, Rock and Hip Hop. With fusion mix of ethnic, religious with latest instruments is quite an amazing mix. The lyrics, the style and the depth with which the artists sing make you feel so very relaxed and I can bet, you will certainly experience an out of world experience. One thing I liked is that there is no live audience in the show( audience brings in extra background sound).
Some of my fav’s among those are – Toomba by Sain Zahoor, Dastaan-e-Ishq – Ali Zafar, Aik Alif – Saieen Zahoor and Noori
The fusion based music is what caught my attention. I don’t have words to express the happyness listening to these songs. Thanks to Iqqu (he too likes fusion music) who found More >
Sona Mohapatra – Mesmerizing Beauty with Charismatic Voice
Since her first album which made waves in the music arena in 2007, she’s been on a raging hit sequence. Engineer by study, MBA by profession and singer by heart ! Her style of music and the way its fusion mixed is just amazing. With a strong classical singing background, she has a unique charismatic voice. Her music and lyrics are totally different from usual music makers. She has her own inimitable style which has made a mark in the music world. I am an ardent fan of Sona, her first song which I heard was “Aja Ve“, which was my fav then. Diljale is my fav now !
All her songs present a great mix of folk-music with the latest style which make them soothing to the ears. Her videos are very different and makes you watch them again and again.Her latest album “Diljale” is just awesome. And she looks amazing in the video. I recently bought her latest album “Diljale“. Pakistan’s First all-Girl Band
Zebunissa Bangash and Haniya Aslam and their girl band is going to rock the music world. They are probably the first female vocalists from the country to create and compose their own songs & music. They say its a tribute to the Pashtun music. This is what they say and portray strongly;
They are in no mood, they insist, to be hailed as the poster girls of the revival of pop music in Pakistan. “Ours is a more soft rock band, we throw in a bit more of estrogen to soften the experience,” they describe themselves, adding that they just want to reclaim their culture”
With so much positivity emerging from this girl band, whats wrong with the media who want to associate and discuss about the non-essential irrelevant topics ! Read below..
This is in regard to the interview by IBN-Live. First question was very good and relevant. There was absolutely no need of cricket and controversies to be brought in the discussion – they are musicians ! And there was absolutely no need to connect taliban with the music and the discussion – they are not pakistani diplomats, they are musicians. The question about how the music is influenced by surroundings More >

Junglee-Hale Paathre,Hale KabaNa(Kannada): Pathetic lyrics
Last weekend Niru and Shaanya told that they are gonna dedicate a song for me on Radio Girmit, I was kinda happy. But later I came to know the song which they were going to dedicate and by god..it was horrible..
I had told the same thing for Chitranna Chitranna song but later I felt it was kinda ok as it seemed funny to hear such lyrics. Same stuff again, the music is catchy but lyrics are real bad. But this song is probably one of the worst lyrics ever written in the history of kannada music industry. The song I am talking about is “Junglee – Hale Paathre“. You will be shocked to hear this, the lyrics for this song is written by Yograj Bhat himself. How could he even think of such lyrics. Probably only two songs in the movie are good to hear. I think its pathetic to use words like “hale paathre, hale kabana” in some song in which the next lines are about love and romance. And this song is sung by “Kailash Kher”, he will even not know what the meaning of this song is. He will probably feel bad if he comes to know what the More >
